Avondale Waterpolo

Avondale was founded in 1906 and is one of the oldest water polo clubs in the world.  Our members are from all over the world and range in age from 20 to 50 and in ability from recent novices to ex-internationals. We have two teams in each of the men’s London and Surrey leagues and in 2006 we won the London Premiership for the first time ever and the Surrey First division for the first time in over 50 years; a testament to our South African youth development system (or our proximity to Southfields!).

Despite our recent success the club remains as it always has, a very sociable one, where the post match or post training drinks, the High Altitude Training Camp (Tignes, Chamonix,…) or Cycling Tours are as much a part of the club as the water polo. If you want to play competitive national league polo you should try other London clubs such as  Penguin or Otter, but if you want a friendly, enthusiastic club that caters for most standards of polo –and which happened to be the best team in London in 2006 - you need look no further! We are also in the enviable position of training and playing in one of the few deep water pools in London.
